Microsoft Virtual Machine for Internet Explorer 5.5
(Build 3319, released 10/25/00)

The Microsoft« virtual machine (Microsoft VM) is designed to run on Microsoft« Windows« 95, Microsoft« Windows« 98, Microsoft« Windows« Millennium Edition (Me), Microsoft« Windows NT« 4.0, and Microsoft« Windows« 2000 or later. WARNING: Please note that once you have installed the updated Microsoft VM it cannot be uninstalled.

  6. Post-installation procedure for developers using jvc

The following procedure is required for SDK for Java users who compile with the Microsoft compiler for Java (jvc). If jvc will not be run, omit this step to save disk space.

When the installation is finished, use the following command to run the clspack tool:

    clspack -auto

Clspack creates a Classes.zip file in the %WINDIR%\Java\Classes directory that contains all Java packages currently installed by the package manager. The Microsoft compiler for Java (jvc) checks this location by default. If you use another Java compiler that does not check this location, set your CLASSPATH variable as follows:

    C:\>set CLASSPATH=%WINDIR%\java\classes\classes.zip;%classpath%
